Question

From a point 40 m away from the foot of a tower, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 45°. Find the height of the tower.

A.

48m

B.

40m

C.

20m

D.

45m

Correct option is B

Given:
Distance from the foot of the tower = 40 m
Angle of elevation = 4545^\circ
Formula Used:
tan(θ)=PerpendicularBase\tan(\theta) = \frac{Perpendicular}{Base}
Solution:

et the height of the tower be h.
tan(45)=h40\tan(45^\circ) = \frac{h}{40}
We know that  tan(45)=1\tan(45^\circ) = 1
1=h401 = \frac{h}{40}
h = 40
Final Answer
So the correct answer is (b)
