Question

Find the equation of the straight line passing through the points (0, 2) and (1, – 3).

A.

2x3y3=02x - 3y - 3 = 0

B.

5x+y2=05x + y - 2 = 0

C.

5x+y+2=05x + y + 2 = 0

D.

2x+3y+3=02x + 3y + 3 = 0

Correct option is B

Given:

(x1,y1)(x2,y2)

(0,2)(1,-3)

Formula Used:

Y-Y1=m(X-X1)

m= Y2Y1X2X1\frac{Y_2-Y_1}{X_2-X_1}

Solution:

m= (32)(10)\frac{(-3-2)}{(1-0)}

m =(5)(1)\frac{(-5)}{(1)}  , m= -5

y-2= -5(x-0)

y - 2 +5x = 0

5x+y -2  = 0

Option (b)
