Calculate the total surface area of a cone if its radius is r4\frac{r}{4}4r and slant Height is 4l4l4l.
Question

Calculate the total surface area of a cone if its radius is r4\frac{r}{4} and slant Height is 4l4l.

A.

2πr(l+r)2πr(l+r)

B.

2πrl2πrl

C.

πr(l+(r16))πr(l+(\frac{r}{16}))

D.

πr(l+r)πr(l+r)

Correct option is C

Given:

Radius of cone =r4= \frac{r}{4}
Slant height of cone = 4l

Formula Used:
Total Surface Area (TSA) of a cone = Curved Surface Area + Base Area

Curved Surface Area = πrl

Base Area = πr2 \pi r^2

TSA = πrl+πr2=πr(l+r) \pi r l + \pi r^2 = \pi r(l + r)

Solution:
Substitute r =r4,l=4l: \frac{r}{4}, l = 4l:

Curved Surface Area = πr44=πrl\pi \cdot \frac{r}{4} \cdot 4 = \pi r l

Base Area =π(r4)2=πr216= \pi \left(\frac{r}{4}\right)^2 = \pi \cdot \frac{r^2}{16}

TSA=πrl+πr216 =πr(l+r16)\text{TSA} = \pi r l + \frac{\pi r^2}{16} \\ \ \\ = \pi r(l +\frac{r}{16})
