Question

Among five people named A, B, C, D and E, each has a certain age. C is twice the age of A. A is three times the age of D. D is one fifth the age of B. The age of B is 45. If E is equal the age of C, what is the age of E?

A.

52

B.

58

C.

54

D.

56

Correct option is C

Given:

C is twice the age of A.

A is three times the age of D.

D is one fifth the age of B.

The age of B is 45.

E is equal to the age of C.

Solution:

From the given, b = 45, so:

d = 455\frac{45}{5} = 9

a = 3d

a = 3 × 9 = 27

c = 2a:

c = 2 × 27 = 54

Since e = c, the age of E is:

e = 54

Thus, the age of E is 54 years.
