Question

Alok, Gita, and Suresh invest ₹56,000, ₹52,000, and ₹69,000 respectively to start a business. At the end of the year, the total profit earned is ₹76,700. 31% of the total profit earned is given to charity and the rest is divided among them in the ratio of their investment. What will be the share of Suresh (in ₹)?

A.

20,631

B.

20,693

C.

20,551

D.

20,727

Correct option is A

Given:

Investments: Alok = ₹56,000; Gita = ₹52,000; Suresh = ₹69,000

Total profit = ₹76,700

Charity = 31% of total profit

Remaining profit is divided in the ratio of their investments

Solution:

Total investment = 56000 + 52000 + 69000 = 177000

Profit after charity = 76700×(10.31)=76700×0.69=529230 \times (1 - 0.31) = 76700 \times 0.69 = 52923

Ratio share for Suresh =69000177000=69177=2359 \dfrac{69000}{177000} = \dfrac{69}{177} = \dfrac{23}{59}

Suresh’s share =52923×2359 52923 \times \dfrac{23}{59}
Suresh’s share =897×23=20 897 \times 23 = 20631
