After 60 litres of petrol was poured into an empty storage tank, it was still 10% empty.How much petrol (in litres, rounded off to two decimal place) must be poured into thestorage tank in order to fill it?

A.

67.67

B.

65.67

C.

61

D.

66.67

Correct option is D

Given:

60 litres of petrol were poured into an empty storage tank, but it was still 10% empty.

Solution:

Let the total capacity of the tank be C litres.

Since 60 litres is 90% of C, So

90100×C=60\frac{90}{100} \times C = 60

C=60×10090C = \frac{60 \times 100}{90}

C=600090=66.67 litresC = \frac{6000}{90} = 66.67 \text{ litres}

Therefore, to fill the tank, 66.67 litres of petrol must be poured in.
