A water tank is in the shape of a cone with a radius of 5 m and a height of 12 m. How much water can the tank hold when full? (Use π ≈ 3.14).
Question

A water tank is in the shape of a cone with a radius of 5 m and a height of 12 m. How much water can the tank hold when full? (Use π ≈ 3.14).

A.

424 m³

B.

345 m³

C.

327 m³

D.

314 m³

Correct option is D

Given:

Radius of the cone (r) = 5 m

Height of the cone (h) = 12 m

π ≈ 3.14

Formula Used:

Volume of a cone =13×π×r2×h \frac{1}{3} \times \pi \times r^2 \times h

Solution:

Volume =13×3.14×(5)2×12 \dfrac{1}{3} \times 3.14 \times (5)^2 \times 12

=13×3.14×25×12= \dfrac{1}{3} \times 3.14 \times 25 \times 12

=13×3.14×300= \dfrac{1}{3} \times 3.14 \times 300

=13×942=314 m3 \dfrac{1}{3} \times 942 = 314 \, \text{m}^3

The water tank can hold 314 cubic meters of water when full.
