Question

A solid is in the shape of a cone fitted on a hemisphere both with radii 2 cm and height of cone being equal to its radius. What is the volume of this solid?

A.

4π cm³

B.

6π cm³

C.

8π cm³

D.

2π cm³

Correct option is C

Radius of the hemisphere and cone r = 2 cm.
Height of the cone h = 2 cm
As we know,
Volume of cone = 1/3 × πг2h= 1/3 × π × 22 x 2 = 1/3 × 8π cm3cm^3
Volume of sphere = 2/3 × πr3= 2/3 × 8 π cm3cm^3
Volume of solid = (1/3) × 8π + (2/3) × 8π = (3/3) × 8π = 8π cm3cm^3
