Question

A man loses 25% of his money. After spending 60% of the remaining money, he has ₹360 left. What is the amount of money (in ₹) he originally had?

A.

1200

B.

1962

C.

654

D.

2400

Correct option is A

Given:

Money loss by man = 25%

Money spent of the remaining part = 60%

Money left = ₹360

Solution:

Let the money  initially the man had be x

Then money loss = 25% of x = 0.25x

Remaining money = x - 0.25x =0.75x

Money spent by man = 60% of 0.75x = 0.45x

Money left = 0.75x - 0.45x = 0.30x

But 0.3x = 360

x = 3600.3=1200 \frac{360}{0.3} = ₹1200
