Question

A cylinder has a diameter of 14 cm, and its curved surface area is 220 cm² The volume of the cylinder is:

A.

670 cm³

B.

770 cm³

C.

707 cm³

D.

620 cm³

Correct option is B

Given:
Diameter of cylinder = 14 cm
Radius r = 7 cm
Curved Surface Area (C.S.A.) = 220 cm²
Volume = ?
Formula Used:
Curved Surface Area = 2πrh
Volume = πr²h
Solution:
2πrh = 220
2 × 227\frac {22}{7} × 7 × h = 220
44h = 220
 => h = 5 cm
Now, Volume = πr²h
V=227×72×5V=227×49×5V=22×2457=22×35=770 cm3V = \dfrac{22}{7} \times 7^2 \times 5 \\[8pt]V = \dfrac{22}{7} \times 49 \times 5 \\[8pt]V = \dfrac{22 \times 245}{7} = 22 \times 35 = 770 \ \text{cm}^3
