Question

A cylindrical rod has an outer curved surface area of 5600 cm2. If the length of the rod is 92 cm, then the outer radius (in cm) of the rod, correct to two places of decimal, is: (Take π = 22/7)

A.

10.99

B.

9.68

C.

8.38

D.

12.28

Correct option is B

Given:

Curved Surface Area (CSA) of cylinder = 5600 cm²

Height (h) = 92 cm

Find outer radius r (correct to 2 decimal places)

Formula Used:

CSA of a cylinder = 2πrh

Solution:

Using the formula;

5600 = 2×227×r×922 \times \frac{22}{7} \times r \times 92

r = 56004048/7=5600×74048 \frac{5600}{4048/7} = \frac{5600 \times 7}{4048}

r = 392004048=9.6881\frac{39200}{4048} = 9.6881 \approx 9.68 cm
