Question

The curved surface area of a right circular cylinder is 5280 cm2 and its base radius is 21 cm. Find the volume (in cm ) of the cylinder. (Take π = 22/7)

A.

45,550

B.

55,440

C.

50,440

D.

65,660

Correct option is B

Given:

Curved Surface Area (CSA) = 5280 cm²

Radius, r = 21 cm

Find the volume of the cylinder.

Formula Used:

CSA of cylinder = 2πrh2\pi r h

Volume of cylinder = πr2h\pi r^2 h

Solution:

Using formula of CSA;

5280=2×227×21×h 5280=132h h=5280132=40 cm5280 = 2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 21 \times h \\ \ \\5280 = 132h \\ \ \\h = \frac{5280}{132} = 40 \text{ cm}

Now,

Volume of Cylinder = 227×212×40\frac{22}{7} \times 21^2 \times 40

227×441×40 \frac{22}{7} \times 441 \times 40

22×63×4022 \times 63 \times 40

= 22 × 2520 = 55,440 cm³
