A cylinder and a cone have the same height and the same radius as that of their base. The ratio of the volume of the cone to the volume of the cylinde
Question

A cylinder and a cone have the same height and the same radius as that of their base. The ratio of the volume of the cone to the volume of the cylinder is:

A.

3 : 2

B.

1 : 3

C.

3 : 1

D.

2 : 3

Correct option is B

Given:

Radius and height of cylinder and cone is same

Formula Used:

Volume of cone =13πr2h \frac{1}{3} \pi r^2 h

Volume of cylinder  = πr2h \pi r^2 h

Solution:

Ratio of volume of cone to volume of cylinder

=13πr2hπr2h = \frac{\frac{1}{3} \pi r^2 h}{ \pi r^2 h}

=13=1:3=\frac{1}{3} =1:3
