Question

A bus leaves Agra at 5 AM and reaches Delhi at 12 noon. Another bus leaves Delhi at 8 AM and reaches Agra at 3 PM. At what time do they meet?

A.

1:30 PM

B.

10 AM

C.

11:30 AM

D.

9:30 AM

Correct option is B

Solution:
The first bus takes 7 hours to reach Delhi and the second bus also takes 7 hours to cover the same distance.
Let the distance between Agra and Delhi be 7 km.
It means Speed of first bus and second bus = 7/7 = 1 km/hr
Distance covered by first bus in 3 hrs (5 am to 8 am) = 3 km
Remaining distance = 7 – 3 = 4 km
If both bus running opposite direction, then speed = 1 + 1 = 2 km/hr
The bus meet each other in (after 8 am) = 4/2 = 2 hrs
So the both bus meet each other at = 8:00 + 2 hr = 10 am
