Question

A, B and C can complete a piece of work in 12 days, 24 days and 36 days, respectively. A starts working alone on the first day and then A is assisted by B on the second day and C on the third day, respectively. This pattern is repeated till the work gets completed. In how many days does the work will be over?

A.

9

B.

10

C.

912\frac{1}{2}

D.

812\frac{1}{2}

Correct option is C

Total Work = LCM of 12 , 24, and 36= 72 unit

Efficiency of A, B and C = 6 , 3 and 2 unit per day respectively.

On first day, A's work = 6 unit

On second day, work done by A and B = 6+ 3 = 9 unit

On third day, work done by A and C = 6+ 2= 8 unit

So, in total 3 days  23 unit of work has been completed.

Hence, In 9 days 69 unit of work will complete.

3  unit of remaining work has to be done by A = 3/6 = 12\frac{1}{2} day

Total time to complete the whole work = 9+1/2 =9129\frac{1}{2} days
