Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh has emerged as the country’s best ‘adventure destination’, while Kedarnath has become the best ‘spiritual destination’ and Jim Corbett’s best ‘wildlife destination’.

Goa was awarded as the runner-up for the best ‘adventure tourism’ category.

Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy presented the awards to Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj.

Sol. The first matches for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games have been announced. Women’s cricket is making its debut at the Commonwealth Games with the T20 format.

The last time cricket was played in the multi-sporting showpiece was in the 1998 edition in Kuala Lumpur.

The women’s cricket T20 competition will be held at the Edgbaston Stadium from the 29 July, with the bronze and gold medal matches taking place on 7 August.

India will face Australia in the opening match when women’s cricket makes its debut at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on July 29 while the final will be played on August 7. India in the early session, with Pakistan playing Barbados, who was recently confirmed as the team from the West Indies that will take part in the Commonwealth Games.

The Indian Army will be represented by the Gorkha Rifles Infantry Battalion and France Army will be represented by troops of the 21st Marine Infantry Regiment of the 6th Light Armoured Brigade.

The exercise will focus on Counter-Terrorism operations and enhance military cooperation and interoperability between the two Armies.

Apart from this, India and France will also carry out biennial airforce training exercise ‘Exercise GARUDA’, and biennial maritime training exercise ‘Exercise VARUNA’.

Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Kishan Reddy has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inclusion of Bhadarchalam as one of the destinations in the Ramayana Circuit of the Pilgrim Special Train.

Bhadrachalam is home to Sree Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple. The aim of the Ramayana Yatra Train is to connect all the important locations of Lord Rama’s journey during his lifetime, the inclusion of Bhadrachalam Road Station will complete the Ramayana Circuit.

Sol. Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi launched the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav mobile App on 12 November 2021.

It will enable single-point access to all information related to the 75th-anniversary celebrations of India’s independence.

Sections like ‘What’s New’ and ‘Weekly Highlights’ allow the users to stay connected to all current Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

Sol. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the proposal for implementation of ‘Mathrubhumi Yojana’ to facilitate individuals or private institutions to contribute in the development of any village.

For the effective implementation of the scheme, ‘Uttar Pradesh Mathrubhumi Society’ will be set up, which will have a governing council and empowered committee under it.

The Chief Minister will be the president of the governing council and the Minister of Panchayati Raj will be its Vice President.

Under the scheme, the amount of grant given by the state government ‘ the remaining 40 per cent or less ‘ will be arranged from the budget provisions of the departments related to the works that will be undertaken, according to the statement.

A Corpus Fund of Rs 100 crore will be made available to the society, which will be used in case of non-availability of state share budget for any scheme and will be reimbursed when the budget is available.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the revamped Rani Kamlapati railway station on November 15, during his visit to Bhopal.

The railway station has been redeveloped with modern airport-like amenities at a cost of ₹450 crore under Public Private Partnership mode in three years.

Rani Kamlapati was the last Hindu queen of Bhopal and pride of the Gond community.

Sol. The Bhagwan Birsa Munda Museum inaugurated by PM Modi on November 15, 2021, is known as Bhagwan Birsa Munda Smriti Udayan Sah Swantantra Senani Sangrahalaya.

The Bhagwan Birsa Munda Museum in Ranchi is spread across 38 acres of land.

The Museum houses a 25ft high statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda along with 9ft high statues of 13 other freedom fighters of tribal movement during India’s Independence.

Born on November 15, 1875, Birsa Munda belonged to the Munda tribe who led an Indian tribal religious Millenarian movement during the British rule in the late 19th century across the tribal belt of modern-day Jharkhand and Bihar.

The portrait of Birsa Munda is up on the walls of the Indian Parliament. Munda is the only tribal freedom fighter who has been honored.

Sol. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on November 14, 2021, confirmed that former India batsman VVS Laxman will take charge as the Head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Laxman is expected to take up the role by December 2021.

The announcement comes after the post got vacant after the former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid became Team India’s Head Coach on November 3, 2021.

Prior to that, Dravid was the Head of the National Cricket Academy.

Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman, popularly known as VVS Laxman is a former Indian international cricketer and a right-hand batsman.

Laxman is among the few cricket players who have played 100 Test matches.

Vihaan and Nav have developed an “One Step Greener” initiative for segregating rubbish and organising waste pickups for trash from thousands of homes, schools and offices.

Kaiser-i-Hind’ is a large and brightly coloured butterfly.

It is an elusive swallowtail butterfly, which carries ‘India’ in its name.

It is found in China and now it has been approved as the State butterfly of Arunachal Pradesh.

Sol. The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to start an ambulance service for cows suffering from serious diseases, state Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary said on 14th November 2021.

The minister said 515 ambulances are ready for this scheme, probably the first in India.

An ambulance with a veterinary doctor and two assistants would arrive within a span of 15 to 20 minutes of requesting the service.

Under the scheme slated to begin by December, a call centre will be set up at Lucknow for receiving complaints.

Maharashtra state EV policy aims to have a 10 percent share of EV vehicles of total registrations in India by 2025.

The museum has been setup at a cost of about ₹1.1 crore.

The location for India’s 1st Food Museum was finalized as Thanjavur because of its historical significance for the FCI.

Sol. India’s first Grass Conservatory was launched by the research wing of the Uttarakhand forest department on November 14, 2021, in Ranikhet of Almora district.

It has been established in an area of 2 acres.

The conservation area houses around 90 different grass species while displaying important ecological, scientific, medicinal, and cultural information related to grass species ‘All Flesh is Grass’.

The Ministry of Defence on August 4, 2021, announced that the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has completed the construction of the world’s highest motorable road at an altitude of 19,300 feet at Umlingla Pass in Eastern Ladakh.

This was stated in a new report by the research arm of consultants McKinsey & Co. that examines the national balance sheets of ten countries.

China accounted for almost one-third of the increase.

China’s wealth jumped to $120 trillion in 2020 from just $7 trillion in 2000. This marks a jump of $113 trillion in 20 years, helping the nation surpass the United States in terms of net worth.

During the same period, the US saw its net worth more than double to $90 trillion. However, the nation could not beat China due to muted increases in property prices.

Sol. Centre has appointed former Supreme Court Judge Justice Ashok Bhushanas the new Chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), for a period of four years or until he attains the age of 70 years, which ever is the earliest.

Justice Bhushan was the former Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

NCLAT was formed by the government under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013.

Apart from this, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar has been appointed as the new President of the quasi-judicial body, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for five years or till he attains the age of 67 years.

Justice Sudhakar was the former Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.

Sol.According to the annual report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Maharashtra has ranked first in terms of suicide.

According to the report, there has been an increase in suicide cases in 2020 as compared to 2019.

In the year 2020, 1,53,052 cases of suicidee. an average of 418 cases have been registered daily.

According to statistics, Maharashtra reported 19,909 cases of suicide followed by Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Karnataka with 16,883, 14,578, 13,103 and 12,259 cases respectively.

Sol. The Madhya Pradesh govt has announced the Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu-adhikar Yojna.

Under the scheme, the state government will provide plots to families that don’t have land to build their own homes.

Residential plots to the eligible families will be provided on Abadi land in each Gram Panchayat.

A family must consist of a couple and their unmarried children to be eligible for the scheme.

Under the scheme, district collectors have been empowered with respect to the availability of Abadi land, and the maximum area of the plot for allotment will be 60 sq m.

Sol.Central Government on 28th October 2021, appointed senior IAS officer Renu Sharma as the new chief secretary of Mizoram which coincided with the state government appointing J C Ramthanga, the additional chief secretary to the chief minister to the post.

Renu Sharma will replace Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, who has taken voluntary retirement from October 31.

Sol.An Indian Air Force (IAF) team and DRDOon 29 October 2021 successfully flight-tested the country’s first indigenously developed Long-Range Bomb (LRB) from a Sukhoi-30 fighter jet over Balasore, Odisha.

Sol.IndianOil Board has greenlighted the setting up of India’s first mega-scale maleic anhydride plant, to manufacture value-added chemical products, at its Panipat Refinery and Petroleum Complex (PRPC) in Haryana.

The project with a capex of ₹3,681 crore will be commissioned in 54 months from Stage 1 investment approval.

The project is proposed to have a capacity of 120 KTA (kilo tonnes per annum) of maleic anhydride (MAH) that is used to make speciality products like polyester resins and surface coatings, plasticisers, agrochemicals, and lubricant additives.

The plant will also manufacture 20 KTA of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) that finds applications in polyurethanes, polybutylene terephthalates (PBT) – an engineering grade plastic and biodegradable fibres.

Sol. ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme health cards have been launched by Home Minister Amit Shah at national level on 02 November.

‘Ayushman CAPF’ scheme has been designed to cover all serving personnel and their dependents of the seven Central Armed Police Forces.

The health card distribution will be undertaken in all CAPFs. The distribution of about 35 lakh cards will be completed by December 2021.

‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme had been launched by Home Minister on a pilot basis in the State of Assam on 23rd January 2021.

It had been launched to provide health care services to all Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs) personnel and their dependents.

Sol. Haryana’s Prime Minister (CM), Manohar Lal Khattar has launched the ‘Uttam Beej website’ which will benefit Haryana farmers by providing quality seeds in a transparent manner.

The site will explicitly provide a seed production system developed by both Government and private seed production organizations and ensure guaranteed seed quality.

This seed portal is linked to the Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal and the Family Identity ID card.

The Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal provides details to all these landowners or those who have contracted their land and should advertise their crop. Farmers will now have access to good quality seeds, which can improve their production and income.

Sol.Indonesia has become the first country in the world to authorize the use of a Covid-19 vaccine developed by Novavax Inc. and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

Novavax said a phase 3 trial of the shot, which is given in two doses 21-days apart, found it was 100% effective against moderate and severe disease and was 90% effective at preventing Covid-19.

Novavax and SII have together committed to providing more than 1 billion doses to COVAX, which is co-led by the WHO.

Sol. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the reconstitution of his Economic advisory council (EAC-PM).

Bibek Debroy, President of the Indian Statistical Institute, is the Chairman of the council.

Former RBI deputy governor Rakesh Mohan, along with IIM Ahmedabad Professor T T Ram Mohan, and Director-General of NCAER Poonam Gupta, are the three new members to join the seven-member council.

The new advisory council has been appointed for a period of two year. The Chairman of the council and three other members have been retained.

Sol. The United Kingdom on November 4, 2021, became the first country in the world to approve a potentially game-changing COVID-19 anti-viral pill.
