Solutions : Land reform measures undertaken by independent Indian government had been conceived as the most important instrument of revolutionising agriculture and improving rural areas. The state governments too have passed suitable legislations to implement the land reforms. The land reform measures have, no doubt, brought about some immediate positive effects.
Though the land reform measures were undertaken with great enthusiasm, they have not brought much justice to the large number of ruralites. Various measures associated with land reforms have not made much progress in the country. Great agricultural economist Prof. M.L. Dantawala has rightly observed : “By and large, land reforms in India enacted so far and those contemplated in the near future…….. are in the right direction, and yet due to lack of implementation the actual results are far from satisfactory.”
