In a sudden move, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially postponed the SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 Exam, leaving nearly 28 lakh aspirants in suspense. Candidates who were eagerly waiting for the release of the admit cards will now have to wait longer, as the exam has been rescheduled for the first week of September 2025. 

The exam was originally set to be conducted from 13th to 30th August 2025. Still, due to ongoing technical glitches, centre-level issues, and recent controversies surrounding SSC exams, the commission has decided to push the dates further. A fresh schedule is expected to be released soon on ssc.nic.in.

On 8th August 2025, just five days before the commencement of the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released an official notice announcing the postponement of the exam. The update was published around 8:30 PM on the official SSC website (ssc.nic.in).

The exam, earlier scheduled from 13th to 30th August, will now be conducted in the first week of September 2025. The revised dates will be notified soon. This sudden decision follows ongoing controversies, including exam centre failures, technical glitches, and student protests in recent SSC exams.

Why was SSC CGL Exam 2025 Postponed?

The reason behind this postponement is the recent technical and operational issues reported during the SSC Selection Post Phase XIII Exam (held from 24 July to 2 August 2025). To ensure that similar problems don’t affect the CGL exam, the Commission decided to delay the CGL Tier 1 exam and first evaluate the exam platform properly.

SSC CGL 2025 Expected Exam Date

As per the SSC Annual Calendar 2025, the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam was initially scheduled to be held from 13th August to 30th August 2025. However, due to multiple issues in recent SSC exams — including technical glitches, centre cancellations, and student protests — the Commission has officially postponed the exam.

According to the notice released on 8th August, the revised exam schedule now shifts the SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 Exam to the first week of September 2025. The exact exam dates will be announced shortly on the official website ssc.nic.in.

Candidates can expect the SSC CGL City Intimation Slip to be released 7–10 days before the revised exam date. The SSC CGL Admit Card 2025 will be issued soon after, region-wise, on the respective regional SSC websites.

• Over 11.5 lakh applicants; around 5.5 lakh appeared
