UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) has released the official notification of CDS 2 2024 to fill 459 Vacancies. Candidates interested in joining the Defence Forces can fill the application form before the last date of 4 June 2024.
According to the official notification, The Written Examination for CDS 2 2024 will be conducted on the 1 September 2024.
CDS (Combined Defence Service) is a National level exam conducted by UPSC to recruit Officers in the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. It is a Graduate level exam, those who are interested in joining the Indian Armed forces should apply for this exam. It is open for both Males and Females aged between 19 to 25 .

What is CDS Exam?
The CDS (Combined Defence Services) is a National-level exam conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for recruitment of Officers in the IMA (Indian Military Academy), OTA (Officers Training Academy), INA (Indian Naval Academy) and AFA (Air Force Academy). It is one of main exam that recruits Cadets in India’s most elite and prestigious Armed Forces. The CDS exam is held twice a year, CDS 1 2024 was conducted in April and CDS 2 2024 will be conducted in September 2024.

Important thing to Note while filling Examination form
- Since women candidates are eligible for OTA only, they should give OTA as their first and only preference
- If a male candidate is competing for Short Service Commission (Army) only, he should indicate OTA as the one and only choice.
- If a male candidate competing for Short Service Commission Course at OTA as well as Permanent Commission course at IMA, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy should indicate OTA as his last preference; otherwise OTA will be deemed to be the last choice even if it is given a higher preference by the candidate
- A Candidate who desire to join Air Force Academy must indicate AFA as first choice, as they have to be administered Computer Pilot Selection System (CPSS) and/or and AF Medicals at Central Establishment/Institute of Aviation Medicines. Choice exercised for AFA as second/third etc. will be treated as invalid.

- Visit the official UPSC website at https://upsc.gov.in/
- Click on the “Examination Notifications” tab located in the right-hand corner of the webpage.
- Look for the notification regarding the CDS (II) 2024 Examination and click on the application link provided.
- If you are new to the website, register yourself on the OTR (Online Recruitment Application) platform. This registration is a one-time process but can be modified within 7 days of your first final application submission for any UPSC examination.
- Proceed to the application link for the CDS II examinations.
- Fill in all the required details, including educational qualifications, preferred exam centers, etc.
- Upload scanned copies of your signature and photograph on the portal.
- If applicable, proceed to the payment section to pay the application fee.
- Make the payment using your preferred method to complete the application process for the CDS 2 2024 Examinations.
