UGC NET Full Form : About
The UGC NET is conducted for the Humanities subjects (including languages), Forensic Science, Social Science, Computer Science and Application, Environment Science and Electronic Science. The main objective of the UGC NET exam is to ensure minimum standards for aspiring candidates in the teaching profession and research avenue. The test is conducted twice a year in June and December. Due to Covid-19, the UGC NET Exam December 2020 was postponed. To regularise the NET exam cycle, UGC has decided to merge the December 2020 and June 2021 exams. The tentative dates for UGC NET exams to be held are 20th November 2021 – 5th December 2021.
The candidates interested in research work can opt for JRF. Once the candidates qualify for the JRF, they can pursue their research studies with various allowances that come with a JRF certificate.
Eligibility Criteria of UGC NET
The candidates appearing for the UGC NET need to check the minimum eligibility criteria before they apply for the same exam.

The validity of the UGC NET certification is valid for a lifetime. There is no restriction for the candidates who qualify for the UGC NET certification to apply for the post of Assistant Professor. However, the UGC NET JRF certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. The candidates who qualify for the UGC NET JRF have to get admitted to a PhD course under a recognised University within 3 years to get the stipend and other facilities under JRF.
UGC NET Exam Pattern
The UGC NET examination consists of two papers – Paper-1 and Paper-2. The UGC NET Paper I consists of 50 questions each carrying 2 marks. The total marks in Paper-I is 100 marks and there is no negative marking. The UGC NET Paper-II con 100 questions each carrying 2 marks.
