    Information Booster :
    What is Delimitation?
Delimitation is the act of fixing or redrawing the limits or boundaries of territorial constituencies in a country to reflect changes in the population. The main objective is to ensure that every segment of the population has equal representation, following the principle of "One Vote, One Value."

The Delimitation Commission: Authority and Composition

The Commission is an independent body that works without executive influence to ensure fairness.

Appointment: It is appointed by the President of India.

Composition: It typically consists of three members:

A serving or retired Judge of the Supreme Court (who acts as the Chairperson).
The Chief Election Commissioner of India.
The State Election Commissioner of the respective state being delimited.

Finality of Orders: According to Article 329 of the Constitution, the orders of the Delimitation Commission have the force of law. Once they are published in the Gazette of India, they cannot be challenged in any court of law. Even the Parliament and State Assemblies cannot modify the final orders.

    Constitutional Basis
The framework for delimitation is provided by two key articles in the Indian Constitution:

Article 82: Provides for the readjustment of seats in the Lok Sabha and the division of states into territorial constituencies after every census.
Article 170: Provides for the composition and division of State Legislative Assemblies into constituencies.
