Given:

One plot is a square with side = 24 m

Other plot is a rectangle with length = 28 m

Both plots have the same perimeter

Find the difference in their areas

Formula Used:

Perimeter of square = 4 × side

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Area of square = (side)2

Area of rectangle = l × b

Solution:

Perimeter of the square4 × 24 = 96 m

Perimeter of the rectangle = 96 m

2(l + b) = 96

l + b = 48

Given l = 28 m

b = 48 - 28 = 20 m

Area of square = 24 × 24 = 576 m2

Area of rectangle = 28 × 20 = 560 m2

Difference in areas576 - 560 = 16 m2
