Question

two persons A and B starts a journey from the same point at the speed of 3 km/h and 4 km/h respectively. If they move in the same direction, then what will be the distance between them after 6 h?

A.

9 km

B.

3 km

C.

4 km

D.

6 km

Correct option is D

Given:

Speed of A = 3 km/h

Speed of B = 4 km/h

Time = 6h

Formula used:

Distance = Speed × Time

Solution:

Distance traveled by A = 3 × 6 = 18 km

Distance traveled by B = 4 × 6 = 24 km

According to the question, after 6 hours

Difference between them = 24 - 18 = 6 km

∴ The distance between them after 6 h will be 6 km.

Alternate Method:

Relative Speed (in same direction) = (4-3) km/h = 1km/h

Distance travelled = 1×6=6km1\times6=6km

Hence, option (d) is correct answer.
