    Question

    Two circular pizzas have radii in the ratio 2:3. If the smaller pizza has an area of 100π cm², what is the area of the larger pizza?

    A.

    265π cm²

    B.

    225π cm²

    C.

    215π cm²

    D.

    250π cm²

    Correct option is B

    Given :

    Radii of two circular pizzas are in the ratio 2 : 3.
    Area of the smaller pizza =100π cm2 100\pi \text{ cm}^2

    Formula Used :
    Area of a circle
    A = πr2\pi r^2
    For circles, area ratio = (radius ratio)2^2

    Solution :

    Radius ratio = 2:3

    Area ratio = 22:32=4:9^2 : 3^2 = 4 : 9

    Let area of smaller pizza = 4x

    4x = 100π00\pi
    x = 25π5\pi

    Area of larger pizza
    = 9x = 9×25π=225π9 \times 25\pi = 225\pi cm²
