The first group searches the 1st and 2nd floors

It takes 1 minute to reach any nearest floor

It takes 1 minute to search each room

Formula Used:

Total time for each group = time to search rooms on both floors + time to move between floors + time to reach the first floor they search

Calculation:

Total rooms on each floor = 20

Time to search one floor = 20 minutes

Total rooms for each group (2 floors) = 20 + 20 = 40

Time to search rooms on both floors for each group = 40 minutes

Time to move between the two floors = 1 minute

Time to reach the first floor:

The first group does not need additional time as they start from the 1st floor.

The second group needs 2 minutes to reach the 3rd floor from the 1st floor.

The third group needs 4 minutes to reach the 5th floor from the 1st floor.

First group:

Time to search rooms on both floors + time to move between floors

Third group:
