Question

There are deer and peacocks in a zoo. By counting heads they are 80 . The number of their legs is 200. How many peacocks are there?

A.

60

B.

50

C.

20

D.

30

Correct option is A

Given:

Total heads (deer + peacocks) = 80

Total legs = 200

Deer have 4 legs each

Peacocks have 2 legs each

Solution:

Let the number of deer be d and peacocks be p

Use the system of equations:

d + p = 80....(1)

4d + 2p = 200......(2)

From the first equation:

d = 80 - p

Substitute into the second equation:

4(80 - p) + 2p = 200

320 - 4p + 2p = 200

320 - 2p = 200

-2p = 200 - 320 = -120

p =1202 \frac{120}{2} = 60

Thus, number of peacock is 60
