Question

There are 50 students in a class. If the average weight of 39 students is 32 kg and the average weight of the entire class is 34 kg, then what is the average weight (in kg) of rest of the 11 students of the class? (Correct up to two decimal places)

A.

42.18

B.

41.09

C.

40.19

D.

43.08

Correct option is B

Given:
Total students in the class = 50
Average weight of 39 students = 32 kg
Average weight of the entire class = 34 kg
Formula Used:
Total weight = Average × Number of students
Weight of remaining students = Total weight of the class − Weight of 39 students
Average weight of remaining students = Weight of remaining students ÷ Number of remaining students
Solution:
Total weight of the class = 34 × 50 = 1700 kg
Weight of 39 students = 32 × 39 = 1248 kg
Weight of remaining 11 students = 1700 − 1248 = 452 kg
Average weight of remaining 11 students = 452 ÷ 11 = 41.09 kg
