Question

The volume of a cylinder is 5500 cm³. If its curved surface area is 4400 sq.cm, then find its height.

A.

380 cm

B.

480 cm

C.

180 cm

D.

280 cm

Correct option is D

Given:

The volume of a cylinder is 5500 cm³. If its curved surface area is 4400 sq.cm,

Formula Used:

Volume of the cylinder = πr2h\pi r^2 h

Curved surface area = 2πrh2 \pi r h

Solution:

πr2h\pi r^2 h   = 5500  ........... (i)

2πrh2 \pi r h  = 4400 ..........(ii)

Divide equation (i) from equation (ii)

πr2h2πrh=55004400\frac{ \pi r^2 h }{2 \pi r h} = \frac{5500}{4400}

r = 52\frac{5}{2}

From equation (ii)

2πrh2 \pi r h  = 4400 ...

2×227×52h2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times \frac{5}{2} h   = 4400

h = 280 cm
