Question

The sum of five consecutive even numbers is 2720. The sum of the third and fifth numbers is:

A.

1392

B.

1292

C.

1192

D.

1092

Correct option is D

Given:

The sum of five consecutive even numbers is 2720.

Solution:

Let the five consecutive even numbers be (x - 4), (x - 2),  x, (x + 2),  (x + 4)

Now,

(x - 4) + (x - 2) + x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 2720

5x = 2720

x = 27205\frac{2720}{5} = 544

The third number, x = 544

The fifth number, x + 4 = 548

Their sum = 544 + 548 = 1092
