    Question

The sum of three terms is 16300. The ratio between first term and second term is 15:16 and the ratio between second term and the third term is 17:18. Find the difference between first and last term.

    A.

    680

    B.

    650

    C.

    670

    D.

    660

    Correct option is D

    Ratio of first : second = 15 : 16
    Ratio of second : third = 17 : 18

    Make second term equal:

    First : Second = 255 : 272
    Second : Third = 272 : 288

    Final ratio = 255 : 272 : 288

    Total ratio = 255 + 272 + 288
    = 815

    Sum of terms = 16300

    Value of 1 part = 16300 / 815
    = 20

    First term = 255 × 20 = 5100
    Last term = 288 × 20 = 5760

    Difference = 5760 − 5100
    = 660
