Question

The sum of five numbers is 655. The average of the first two numbers is 77 and the third number is 124. Find the average of the remaining two numbers?

A.

189.5

B.

202

C.

188.5

D.

201

Correct option is C

Given:

Sum of 5 numbers = 655

Average of first two numbers = 77

Third number = 124

Formula Used:

Remaining sum = Total sum − (Sum of first 3 numbers)

Average = Sum Count\frac{\text{Sum}}{\text{ Count}}

Solution:

Sum of first two number = 77 × 2 = 154

Average of last two numbers = 655(154+124)2 \frac{655 - (154 + 124)}{2} = 188.5
