Question

The shares of P, R and S in a business are in the ratio 2 : 3 : 4. If the total profit is₹18,000, then S gets how much more (in ₹) than P?

A.

1,000

B.

2,000

C.

3,000

D.

4,000

Correct option is D

Given:

Shares of P, R, and S in the business = 2 : 3 : 4

Total profit = ₹18,000

Solution:

Total ratio = 2 + 3 + 4 = 9

Profit share of S = 49×18,000 \frac{4}{9} \times 18,000 = 8,000

Profit share of P = 29×18,000\frac{2}{9} \times 18,000 = 4,000

Difference = ₹8,000 − ₹4,000 = ₹4,000

Alternate Solution:

Direct - ratio difference of S and P

= 2

Difference = 29×18000=4000\frac29\times18000 = 4000
