The selling price of 20 books is equal to the cost price of 6 books. Find the loss or gain percentage.

A.

70% gain

B.

507\frac{50}{7}% gain

C.

507\frac{50}{7}% loss

D.

70% loss

Correct option is D

Given:

20SP = 6CP

Solution:

20SP = 6CP

SPCP=620\frac{SP}{CP} = \frac{6}{20}

SP = 6 , CP = 20

Loss = CP – SP = 20 – 6 = 14

Loss % = LossCP×100=1420×100=14×5\frac{\text{Loss}}{CP}\times100 = \frac{14}{20}\times100 = 14\times5 = 70%
