Question

The ratio of the volumes of two cylinders A and B having the radii of their bases as 2 cm and 3 cm , respectively, and having the same height, is:

A.

2 : 3

B.

3 : 2

C.

4 : 9

D.

9 : 4

Correct option is C

Given:

Radii of two cylinders A and B = 2cm and 3 cm

Height of cylinders is same

Formula Used:

Volume of cylinders = πr2h\pi r^2 h

Solution:

Volume of cylinder A =π(2)2h=4πh= \pi (2)^2 h = 4\pi h

Volume of cylinder B =π(3)2h=9πh \pi (3)^2 h = 9 \pi h

Ratio of volume of cylinder A and volume of cylinder B = 4πh9πh=49=4:9\frac{4\pi h}{9\pi h} = \frac{4}{9} =4:9
