Question

The ratio of the volumes of two cubes is 64 : 1331. What is the ratio of their total surface areas?

A.

16 : 121

B.

121 : 16

C.

16 : 4

D.

4 : 121

Correct option is A

Given:
Volume ratio = 64 : 1331

Formula Used:

Volume of cube = side3\text{side}^3

Surface area ratio =(side ratio)2(\text{side ratio})^2 , where side ratio =volume ratio3\sqrt[3]{\text{volume ratio}}

Solution:
Side ratio of two cubes =6413313=411\sqrt[3]{\frac{64}{1331}} = \frac{4}{11}

Surface area ratio of two cubes = (411)2=16121\left(\frac{4}{11}\right)^2 = \frac{16}{121}
