Question

A.

80%

B.

56%

C.

70%

D.

78%

Correct option is D

Given:

The ratio of the numbers of boys and girls = 3 : 2

And 20% of boys and 25% of girls are scholarship holders .

Solution:

Let the number of boys  = 300

and the numbers of the girls = 200

According to the question

20% of the boys get scholarship means 80% of boys do not get scholarship

The number of boys who do not get scholarship = 80% of 300 = 300×80%=240300 \times 80\% = 240

25% of the girls are get scholarship means 75% of girls don't get scholarship

The number of girls who don't get = 75% of 200 = 150

Total number of students who don't get scholarship = 240 + 150 = 390

Percentage of students who don't get scholarship = 390500×100%=78%\frac{390}{500}\times100\% = 78 \%
