Question

The ratio of the money with Geeta and Radha is 7 : 15 and that of the money with Radha and Savitha is 7 : 16. If Geeta has ₹980, how much money does Savitha have?

A.

2,400

B.

2,100

C.

9,800

D.

4,800

Correct option is D

Given:
Ratio of money with Geeta : Radha = 7 : 15
Ratio of money with Radha : Savitha = 7 : 16
Geeta has ₹980
Solution:
Geeta : Radha = 7 : 15
Radha : Savitha = 7 : 16
To combine, take LCM of Radha’s ratio values = LCM(15, 7) = 105.
Multiply first ratio (7 : 15) by 7 → Geeta : Radha = 49 : 105
Multiply second ratio (7 : 16) by 15 → Radha : Savitha = 105 : 240
Now combined ratio = Geeta : Radha : Savitha = 49 : 105 : 240
49 units = 980
So, 1 unit = 980 ÷ 49 = 20
Savitha’s money = 240 × 20 = ₹4800
