Question

The pie-chart given below represents the percentage distribution of the number of eggs sold by a shopkeeper on different days of a week.
Percentage distribution of the number of eggs sold by a shopkeeper

Find the ratio of the number of eggs sold by the shopkeeper on Wednesday to that of the same on Thursday.

A.

4:7

B.

4:9

C.

3:5

D.

2:5

Correct option is C

Solution:
Let the total eggs be A
Number of eggs sold on Wednesday = A × 12% = 0.12A
Number of eggs sold on Thursday = A × 20% = 0.20A
Ratio = 0.12A : 0.20A = 3 : 5
∴ The ratio of the number of eggs sold by the shopkeeper on Wednesday to that of the same on Thursday is 3 : 5.
