Solution:

Let incomes = 5x, 7x and expenditures = 2y, 4y.
For Chetan: 5x − 2y = 96,000
For Vipul: 7x − 4y = 96,000

Subtract

2x − 2y = 0

x = y.
Then 5x − 2x = 96,000

3x = 96,000

x = 32,000
Chetan’s income = 5x = 5 × 32,000 = ₹1,60,000
