The length of a hall is 7 m more than its breadth. If its perimeter is 62 m, find the length of the hall.
Question

The length of a hall is 7 m more than its breadth. If its perimeter is 62 m, find the length of the hall.

A.

34.5 m

B.

12 m

C.

19 m

D.

27.5 m

Correct option is C

Given:
Length of the hall = breadth + 7 meters.
Perimeter of the hall = 62 meters.
Formula Used:
For a rectangle, the perimeter P is given by:
P = 2 × (Length + Breadth)
Solution:
Let the breadth of the hall be b meters.
P = 2 × (7 + b + b)
62 = 2 × (7 + 2b)
31 = 7 + 2b
2b = 31 – 7
b = 242\frac{24}{2}
b = 12
Since, Breadth, b = 12 cm
Thus, Length = 12 + 7 = 19 cm.
