Question

A hall is 42 m long and its breadth is 1/3 of length. Its floor is to be covered with tiles of 50 cm length and 30 cm breadth. Required number of tiles will be :

A.

3390

B.

3620

C.

3920

D.

3260

Correct option is C

Given
Length of hall = 42 m
Breadth of hall = 1/3 of 42 m = 14 m
Tile length = 50 cm = 0.5 m
Tile breadth = 30 cm = 0.3 m
Formula used
Number of tiles = Area of hall ÷ Area of one tile
Solution
Area of hall
= 42 × 14
= 588 m²
Area of one tile
= 0.5 × 0.3
= 0.15 m²
Number of tiles required
= 588 ÷ 0.15
= 3920
The correct option is (c)
