The last Subedar of Bengal, who was appointed by Mughal Emperor was Murshid Quli Khan.
Around 1700, Aurangzeb appointed Murshid Quli Khan as the Diwan of Bengal. Azim-us-Shan, the grandson of the Mughal emperor, served as the province's subahdar at that time. Murshid Quli Khan
proceeded to Jahangirnagar (modern-day Dhaka) after being assigned to the role and, to Azim-us-Shan's chagrin, transferred personnel from his company to his own.
