    Question

    The height of a conical vessel is 7 cm. If its capacity is 6.6 litres of milk. Find thediameter of its base.

    A.

    60 cm

    B.

    25 cm

    C.

    15 cm

    D.

    30 cm

    Correct option is A

    Given:

    Height of conical vessel, h = 7 cm

    Capacity (volume) of conical vessel = 6.6 litres = 6600 cm³

    (since 1 litre = 1000 cm3)

    Formula Used:

    Volume of the cone = 13πr2h\frac{1}{3} \pi r^2 h

    Solution:

    From the  formula;

    6600=13πr2×76600 = \frac{1}{3} \pi r^2 \times 7

    6600=7πr236600 = \frac{7\pi r^2}{3}

    r2=6600×37πr^2 = \frac{6600 \times 3}{7\pi}

    r=900=30 cmr = \sqrt{900} = 30 \text{ cm}

    Diameter = 2r = 60 cm
