    Question

The given chart represents the sales of automobiles in India (by type, in million units) from the year 2011 to 2014. Study the chart and answer the question that follows.

If the same percentage increase in the number of two wheelers as in 2014 over 2013 is expected in 2015, approximately how many two wheelers will be sold in 2015?
    Commercial vehicles

    A.

    15.8 million

    B.

    16.8 million

    C.

    17.8 million

    D.

    14.8 million

    Correct option is A

    Given:
Increase in production of automobiles from year 2011 to 2014
    Formula Used:
    Change percentage = Change/(Original Value) x100
    Solution:
Change in two wheeler production from 2013 to 2014
    In 2013 = 13.8 million units
    In 2014 = 14.8 million units
    Change percent =  (14.813.8)13.8×100\frac{(14.8 -13.8)}{13.8} \times100 = 7.24%
If increase in percentage for two wheeler from 2014 to 2015 is considered same then,
    Increase in production = 14.8+14.8×7.24100 14.8 + 14.8 \times \frac{7.24}{100} = 14.8 + 1.07= 15.8 million units
