Question

The pie chart given below shows the runs scored by a batsman in 6 matches. The data is presented in the terms of degrees.

Total runs scored by the batsman in M6 and M5 are 240. What are the total runs scored by the batsman in M2 and M3?

A.

120

B.

200

C.

80

D.

100

Correct option is A

Given:
Total runs in M6 and M5 = 240

M6 = 126o, M5 = 54o,  M2 = 54o, M3 = 36o
Formula Used:
Runs =Given DegreeTotal Degree \frac{Given\ Degree}{Total\ Degree} × Total Runs
Solution:
the sum of degrees for M5 and M6 = 126 + 54 = 180
the sum of degrees for M2 and M3 = 54 + 36 = 90
From the chart, the proportion of degrees shows that 90 is exactly half of 180
Therefore, the runs scored in M2 and M3 will also be half of the runs scored in M5 and M6.
Total runs in M2 and M3 = 2402\frac{240}{2}
Total runs in M2 and M3 = 120
Final Answer
So the correct answer is (a)
