Question

The capacity of a cuboid tank of water is 70,000 litres. Find the breadth of the tank, if its length and depth are 4 m and 10 m, respectively.

A.

1.75 m

B.

1.85 m

C.

1.95 m

D.

1.65 m

Correct option is A

Given:

Capacity of the cuboid tank = 70,000 litres

Length of the tank = 4 m

Depth of the tank = 10 m

Formula Used:

Volume of cuboid = Length × Breadth × Depth

1 litre = 1 cubic decimetre = 0.001 cubic metre.

Solution:

Converting the given capacity from litres to cubic metres:

70,000litres = 70,000 × 0.001 = 70cubic metres

Now,

70 = 4 × B × 10

70 = 40 × B

B = 7040=1.75 m\frac{70}{40} = 1.75 \, \text{m}

Thus, the breadth of the tank is 1.75metres.
