Question

The average weight of A, B, C and D is 40 kg. A new person E is also included in the group, then the average weight of the group is increased by 1 kg. Again a new person F replaces, A then the new average weight of five people becomes 42 kg. Find the average weight (in kg) of B, C, D, F.

A.

45.25

B.

54.25

C.

38.25

D.

41.25

E.

25.25

Correct option is D

Total weight of A, B, C & D = 4×40 = 160 kg
Total weight of A, B, C, D & E = 5×41 = 205 kg
Weight of E = 205 – 160 = 45 kg
Total weight of F, B, C, D & E = 5×42 = 210 kg
Total weight of B, C, D & F = 210 – 45 = 165 kg
Required average = 165/4 = 41.25 kg
