Question

The average price of three items of furniture is ₹15,135. If their prices are in the ratio 3 : 5 : 7, the price of the cheapest item (in ₹) is:

A.

7,063

B.

3,027

C.

9,081

D.

5,045

Correct option is C

Given:

The average price of three items of furniture is ₹15,135

The prices of the items are in the ratio 3 : 5 : 7

Solution:

Let the prices can be 3x 5x, and 7x,

Sum of total price = 3×15135=454053\times 15135 = 45405

Now,

3x + 5x + 7x = 45405

15x = 45405

x = 45,40515=3,027\frac{45,405}{15} = 3,027

The price of the cheapest item is 3x:

Cheapest Item’s Price = 3 × 3,027 = ₹9,081
