Question

The ages of Deeksha and Amit are in the ratio of 7 : 5 respectively. After 4 years the ratio of their ages will be 4 : 3. What is the difference in their present ages?

A.

8

B.

17

C.

15

D.

14

Correct option is A

Given:

Present age ratio of Deeksha : Amit = 7 : 5

After 4 years, age ratio = 4 : 3

Solution:

Let the present ages be 7x and 5x

Now,

7x+45x+4=43\frac{7x + 4}{5x + 4} = \frac{4}{3}

3(7x + 4) = 4(5x + 4)

21x + 12 = 20x + 16

x = 4

Present Age of Deeksha =7x = 28

Present Age of Amit = 5x = 20

Difference = 28 − 20 = 8 years
