Question

Shweta and Monika invest in a business in the ratio 2 : 1. If total profit is Rs. 1347, then what is difference between the profit (in Rs.) of Shweta and Monika?

A.

549

B.

599

C.

399

D.

449

Correct option is D

Given:
Investment ratio of Shweta and Monika = 2 : 1

Total profit = Rs. 1347
Concept Used:
Profit is divided in the ratio of investment.
If the investment ratio is a : b, then the profit is divided as a : b.
Solution:
Let the investment ratio of Shweta and Monika be 2x and x respectively.
Total parts of investment = 2x + x = 3x.
Total profit = Rs. 1347, so the value of one part = 13473=449\frac{1347}{3} = 449.
Shweta's profit = 2x =2×449 2 \times 449 = 898.
Monika's profit = x = 449.
Difference between their profits = 898 - 449 = 449.
Thus, option (D) is right.
